The formerly great state of California is leaping on the "fuck your CCW" band wagon with SB 918,
This
bill, assuming it will be passed into law (which is virtually certain)
creates a ton of "sensitive areas" where you will not be able to carry a
gun based on a CCW permit.
Among
these "sensitive areas" are schools and their immediate vicinity,
community colleges, universities, government buildings, judicial
buildings, anything that could be remotely called a medical facility,
any sort of public transportation, any place where alcohol is both sold
and consumed, playgrounds, any gathering which requires a permit and any
open to the public facility (store) unless it is specifically posted as
permitting gun carry.
The
bill would also enact certain "safe storage" requirements, significantly
increase the cost of a gun permit, and allow (though not mandate) a
psych eval. These evaluations could only be done by specific
professionals with a max cost of $200. It is expected that there would
be a LONG wait for these evaluations as most counties will have only ONE
listed phsrink permitted to do them.
