PERRY COUNTY, MISSOURI: A team of spelunkers found and rescued a dog, named Abby, which was missing for almost two months since June 9. As per the reports, the group was inside the Tom Moore Cave system between Brewer and Perryville when they discovered the dog.

Recalling the rescue on Facebook, team member Rick Haley wrote that he and another spelunker, Gerry Keene, worked together to safely bring Abby back to a safe place. He wrote, "Gerry Keene and I facilitated a cave rescue of a dog. The dog was not in good shape. We package the dog in a duffel bag with her head sticking out. This was to protect her and the rescuers as she would likely struggle. We moved her 500 feet to a very tight, awkward, vertical climb, handing her hand to hand upward to the surface." He further added, "She was totally cooperative. The pictures kinda tell the story. She was happy to be out! The owner claimed her and said she had been missing SINCE JUNE 9th!"

As per NY Post, during the rescue, there was a presence of running water and fish and crustaceans inside the cave, and following the rescue, the spelunkers contacted Biehle Assistant Fire Chief Robert Cahoon who helped them go door-to-door in the area to find Abby's owner, Fox 2 reported.

According to CNN, Haley, along with a team of around 30 spelunkers, was mapping a cave north of Perryville, Missouri, as part of a project for the Cave Research Foundation. The cave is part of the Berome Moore cave system, which is approximately 22 miles long, the second-longest in Missouri. Even though the dog went missing for two months, it is unknown how long the dog had been in the cave or how she managed to survive.
