The attempt to recall the
uber-liberal zealot D. A. of Los Angeles, George Gascon, failed to get
enough signatures to make the November ballot. The attempt needed
556,857 VALID signatures to get over the bar. While they turned in
about 715,000 signatures they had a failure rate of about 27%, giving
them only about 520,000 valid signatures.
A
lot of the dislike to Gascon comes from within his own office. He has
been sued by his own people to compel him to follow the law. He
routinely refuses to charge gun and gang enhancements or prosecute
three-strikes case as such, even though state law REQUIRES that he do
so.
