It is an old axiom in politics. It is possible to tax
things to death. The Democrat-Socialists are proposing a 20% tax on all
REVENUE of any gun manufacturer that manufactures anything that could
remotely be considered an "assault weapon" or a "high capacity
magazine." The bill would also mandate that each manufacturer create
and maintain a tracking system to track any criminal use of any weapon
they sell.
Among other
things the preamble to the bill asserts that there were no civilian
semi-automatic rifles in existence during 1954, the last time the
firearms excise tax was "adjusted."
