Back to the plantation fellas. No one is laughing at the Assistant Chief's joke now
Vincent, Alabama is a small town. Total population of
not quite 2,000 humans and overlaps into three different counties.
Until a couple of days ago they even had their own police department.
Three people. Not any more.
It
seems that a few days back someone within the department sent out a
text on a social media platform. It asked, "What do y'all call a
pregnant slave? The response was, "BOGO. Buy one, get one free." The
city fathers were not amused and canned the Chief and Assistant Chief
and shut down the department,
Police coverage is now being provided by the Shelby County Sheriff's Office.
EDITOR'S NOTE: Over-reaction? Not by a long shot in today racial-sensitive society.

This may have been the opportunity city fathers were looking for to shut down the dept. A 3-person dept can't do much besides write tickets.
And issue gun permits, though I am not sure that is an issue in Alabama. In CA there (I am told) are a few small police departments that seem to exist solely for that purpose, and for parking enforcement and nailing out-of-towners in speed traps.
