Who is Jimmy Amisial? Texas college student, 27, reveals he is adopting baby he found in TRASH CAN Jimmy Amisial revealed that he is officially adopting Emilio Angel Jeremiah, five years after he found him inside a trash can in Haiti

"All heroes don’t wear capes." This saying is apt for a Texas college student who is adopting a baby boy he found covered with ants in a trash can while enjoying his vacation in Haiti.

Jimmy Amisial, 27, discovered a baby boy covered in ants inside a trash can. He took the baby out of the trash can and immediately took him to his mother Elicie Jean, 66. They got medical help for the baby boy and even fed and cleaned him before reporting him to the police, according to reports.

Amisial reported the instance to the local police. But when the police failed to discover the biological parents of the baby, a court judge asked Amisial whether he can become a legal guardian to the baby. After thinking over it, Jimmy finally decided to be his legal guardian and named him Emilio Angel Jeremiah.

How did Jimmy Amisial find Emilio?

Amisial found Emilio in December 2017 when he was visiting his mother in Haiti during his semester break from Texas State University. During the break, Amisial helped out at the orphanage next to his home. One day, while making his way to the orphanage, he noticed a crowd gathered around a trash can. Amisial made his way to the front, where he found out there was a four-month-old boy inside the can.

"When I woke up that day, I was unaware that my life was about to change forever," Amisial said. "People were crowding around this bin and I heard them arguing about what to do with this tiny baby. Everyone was just staring at him - not a single soul wanted to help. He was crying and had no clothes on and I could see the pain in his eyes - I had to do something," he added.

Amisial scooped the baby out and took him to her mother. The condition of the 4-months-old left Jimmy’s mother shocked. Easing their nerves, they cleaned the baby and took him to the doctor for a check-up.

The duo reported the instance to the police and the police launched an investigation to find the parents of the baby but sadly failed to find the biological parents.

Days passed by and the hearing went on. On the last day of the hearing, a judge asked Amisial if he would like to become the legal guardian of the baby. Amisial said, "When I was asked to raise him, I stayed awake for days tossing and turning, trying to make a decision. I was already behind on my university fees and my family has always struggled to make ends meet. But I didn't have a dad growing up, and this poor child was facing a lifetime of instability and uncertainty. Something inside was telling me that this had happened for a reason - so I took a leap of faith."

It has been 5 years since Amisial became the legal guardian of the baby boy Emilio and since then, he has been splitting his time between his studies and taking care of Emilio.

Now, Amisial is finally going to legally apply to adopt Emilio. "When I found him, he was four months old - now he's nearly five," Amisial said, adding, "It's been an incredible journey and watching him grow up has been so rewarding - I'm very proud of him. I had to do what I had to do when no one else wanted to do it, and I'm so grateful for the past four and a half years. I truly do feel like a father, and I'm excited to put pen to paper and make Emilio my son - I just need to raise the money first. I'm glad I got the opportunity to transform his life from being abandoned in the trash to being a wonderful treasure."

Amisial has started the legal process of adopting Emilio. He has started a campaign on GoFundMe as he needs $30,000 to complete the adoption and until he submits the money, he will not be given a date of completion.
