There is a grass-roots effort under way in CA to
significantly modify Proposition 47. This ballot proposition
essentially removed criminal penalties from a lot of drug crimes. It
also essentially de-criminalized a lot of property crimes.
The
legislature, in an effort to head this effort off at the pass,
attempted to pass some legislative actions that would accomplish SOME of
what the effort to revise Prop 47 would accomplish BUT......they wanted
to insert "poison pills" into those bills that would make them null and
void if those pesky voters actually passed their initiative.
It
was such an in-your-face FUCK YOU to the voters that even a lot of the
members of the Democrat-Socialist party thought this was as bridge too
far. All of the poison pills are now gone.
