Various broadcast news outlets are saying this morning that Joe Biden is now "open" to considerations of bailing out. They are also saying that virtually all of the big money donors have bailed out on Joe. There are further reports that some of the big political names in the party (i.e. Nancy Pelosi) are being less than completely polite in informing Joe he is past his "best if used by" date.
Lets
assume he goes (which is far from a guarantee at this stage). Who is
available to step in and who won't mind getting steamrollered by Trump?
Anybody who might be a serious contender (except maybe Michelle) will
not want to go down in history as the person who got creamed by Hitler.
If they are young enough 2028 is still plenty of time to fight for a
completely open spot. Having less than four months to set up a
competent run, even if well funded, is far from a sure thing. Remember
it would be extremely difficult from a practical-legal point for Joe
Biden to shift his current $225 million war chest to anybody but Kamala.
Of
course it is also possible that Joe is just playing pretend with the
dogs nipping at his heels and when push comes to shove he will say UP
YOURS.
We will, no doubt, see what happens.
