COPS SHOOT FOUR-YEAR OLD HOSTAGE
By Bob Walsh
Body camera footage shows the
horrifying moment Macomb police fired a single gunshot that killed a
four-year-old boy being held hostage at knifepoint by his mom's
ex-boyfriend
Terrell Marshawn Miller, 4, was shot and killed by police while being held hostage at knifepoint
On March 16 the cops in Macomb, Illinois, responded to a
domestic. When they got there they heard screams coming from inside the
residence. They forced their way inside the apartment and saw an adult
obviously suffering from stab wounds and Anthony George, 57, holding
two knives.
The man
disappeared from camera view briefly and then showed up again holding
the 4-year old, with a knife to the child's throat. One of the cops
took the shot. The bullet killed George after first going thru the
child. The child, Terrell Miller, also died.

There
is, as one might expect, considerable outrage over the incident. A
special prosecutor investigated the matter and has concluded there was
no criminal conduct by the cop who fired the shot. As one might expect
the child's mother is manifestly unhappy.

Having the justice system clear the cop is of course the issue. Until there is truly an independent investigation in police involed shootings/restraint issues a large portion of the public isn't going to believe the "was justified" conclusions.
