MAJOR CHANGE IN CALIFORNIA CIVIL SERVICE RULES ??

by Bob Walsh

Governor Moonbeam, AKA Jerry Brown, has proposed that state civil service workers should all now serve a two-year probation period. Right now not even peace offices serve a two-year probation period.

Jerry's proposal would also give departments more authority to promote off-list (meaning more promotions for home-boys and flat-backers).

As one might expect the state employee unions are not really thrilled with these notions. Not that Jerry cares. He isn't running for anything again.

I'm not a big fan of civil service. It makes it too difficult to fire bad employees.
