NOT THE BEST CHOICE FOR DESIGNATED DRIVER

The driving instructor ‘only’ had two beers. Yeah, it’s always only two beers. And mama also had some pot in her purse. Hmm, I guess that would make the 10-year-old the most qualified driver.

When mother-of-two Audrey Willoughby realized she was a little too tipsy to drive home after a family outing, there was one person she knew was sober enough to take the wheel.

So the 33-year-old handed the keys to her daughter, ten, and jumped in the back seat with her eight-year-old son.

After all, her boyfriend had only had two beers and could give the little girl driving lessons as they drove through Fort Pierce, Florida.

But the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, panicked on a busy road and instead of slamming the brake, hit the accelerator.

Speeding out of control, the family's Toyota Corolla ploughed into three cars and a house before coming to rest.

Willoughby now faces up to 18 months in jail after pleading no contest to child abuse charges and permitting an unauthorised minor to drive.

She reportedly told Port St. Lucie police that partner Michael Ray Green III, 39, was giving the girl a driving lesson in the car on Southeast Floresta Driver when the collisions occurred.

Green said he'd had two beers and couldn't have driven anyway because his license was suspended.

Nobody was injured in the crash, which happened in May, and the children were taken to their grandfather's house after Willoughby and Green were arrested.

Willoughby was also charged with possession of less than 20 grams of cannabis after officers found some in her purse.
