WILL WE REMAIN A NATION RULED BY LAWS OR WILL WE BECOME ONE RULED BY MEN?

Yesterday’s CBS Sunday Morning showed a video clip of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton being interviewed during a CBS 60 Minutes segment in 1970. CBS news correspondent Charles Collingwood asked Taylor about her 17-year-old son growing up in the cultural revolution with its rampant use of drugs.

Wen asked about marijuana, Taylor said something like, “How can I tell him not to use pot, which I have, when I drink martinis.”

If I had been there, I could have easily told her that, unless your are underage, drinking a martini is not against the law but the possession and use of marijuana is against the law no matter what age you are.

The proponents of pot have long accused those of us who support the laws against marijuana of being a bunch of hypocrites because we consume alcoholic beverages. That charge is a bunch of crap! They sound off that pot smokers are of a new generation while those of us who drink are of the old generation. And to justify their use, they keep telling us that marijuana is less dangerous than alcohol. Another load of crap!

I know that many, if not most people believe the laws against marijuana are bad laws, but have any of the pot heads and defenders of illegal pot use ever considered this?:

__We brag about and take pride for living in a nation that is ruled by laws, not by men! As such we do not have the right to decide for ourselves which laws are good and obey them, and which laws are bad and break them. Wen we do that, we are no longer ruled by laws - we are then ruled by men, contrary to the principles of a true Democracy.
