The
Dixie Fire, the largest single fire in CA history and the second
largest if you count combined fires, has now burned over 510,000 acres
and destroyed more than 1,100 buildings. Most of these buildings were
in the historic town of Greenville which was almost totally destroyed.
The fire has been burning for a month and is only about 30% contained.
Fortunately (for me) the wind is now blowing from the Delta into my neck of the woods, forcing the smoke up into Reno.
It
would sure be nice if the formerly great state of California could get
their collective shit together on forest management. What we are doing
now clearly is not working.

I read where a fire has started just North of Lake Tahoe on Mount Rose. That ain't far from Reno.
