Leslie Grace (pictured) got canned as Batgirl ..... so the whole completed movie had to be canned too
The new BATGIRL movie is totally completed and in the
can. Depending on who you ask it cost around $90 million. Typically a
major motion picture will spend about as much as the production cost in
advertising and distribution. That would be another $90 million more or
less. Warner has totally withdrawn it. No theater release. No
streaming or HBO release. Nothing.
The
screenings of the new movie have been anywhere between very negative
and disastrous, depending on who you ask. It is apparently very
political and very, very WOKE. And audiences thought it sucked. The
decision to spike the flick was made by the new CEO, David Zaslav as a
cost cutting measure.
The
Batgirl character is 50 years old. Batgirl is Barbara Gordon, the
daughter of police commissioner James Gordon. In the movie Batman is
played by Michael Keaton, the bad guy (Firefly) by Brendan Fraser and J K
Simmons returns at Commissioner Gordon. Batgirl is played by Leslie
Grace in this incarnation.
Apparently
if the studio carries the unreleased movie in inventory they don't have
to declare the loss on their books. Right now Warner doesn't want to
post any losses if they can help it.
