A GOOD WAY TO KILL A HALF DAY

By Bob Walsh

I don't do much serious picture taking during July and August because it is so damn hot and the lighting is so harsh.  Nevertheless I drove an hour north to Roseville today to take some photos of the 4014 BIG BOY locomotive.  It is the largest operational steam locomotive in the U. S.  That sucker weighs 1.1 million pounds.

About a thousand or so other people thought it would be a good idea too so downtown Roseville was more than a little crowded, but it was still cool.  Art recording life.  I even shot a roll with my prehistoric Canon II-F 35 mm film camera.

It was a good morning.
