Captain Julie Harding, 49, was the area commander of the
CHP in the Yuba-Sutter office from 2018. She was found dead over the
weekend in the yard of a house in Tennessee about two months after her
husband (estranged ?)had been reported missing. The cause of death was a
single gunshot wound. She was on leave at the time of her death. Her
cause of death does not appear to be foul play according to the Clay
County S. O.
Her husband,
Michael Harding, 53, was reported missing on September 20 in Clay
County. He was later found dead in Cumberland County, KY, which
adjoines Clay County TN.
Julie
Harding was arrested the day before her death in Tennessee. The
charges were stalking and criminal trespass. The victim was a former
girlfriend of her husband Michael.
There
is some level of suspicion that Captain Harding hired Thomas Francis
O'Donnel to murder her husband. He is in custody in Sacramento on a
warrant out of Kentucky.
Captain Harding had been with the CHP since 1999. From patrol officer to Captain in 19 years is moving right along.
Damn shame all around.
