There is a group in New Mexico (and 31 other states) called the Voter Reference Foundation. They are backed by the Republican party and are essentially conservative and opposed to illegal voting. The state has refused to provide public record information to this group.
U .S District Court Judge James Browning has just ruled that the state can not refuse to supply the information and that referring the matter to the state prosecutors was inappropriate.
The state intends to appeal the ruling.
