A few days ago an unnamed mother and small child were attacked by a river otter at the Bremerton Marina in Washington state.
The
otter grabbed the child and pulled her off the dock and into the
water. The mother managed to retrieve her crumb snatcher and beat
feet. The otter pursued the pair onto dry ground and continued to
attack. There has been what is described as an "infestation" of river
otters in the marina.
Fish
and game caught and killed the suspect otter. It is being checked for
rabies. It is not uncommon for river otters to be aggressive in the
protection of what they regard as their territory.
