John Zalesky, a 67-year-old from Aurora, Colo., said the local Walmart fired him earlier this month after he was stabbed trying to stop a shoplifter.
John Zalesky, 67, used to work for WalMart in Aurora,
Colorado. He was a good spotter of shoplifters and gave him the
"Shrinkbuster of the Month" award back in February for his assistance in
cutting down on "shrinkage" (theft) in the store, which was running
$500,000 a year at that location. That was before they fired his ass.
On
August 11 of this year he followed a suspected shoplifter out of the
store. That is a big no-no. He had approached her inside the store and
asked to see her bag. She boogied, running to a car with a driver
parked in a nearby handicapped spot. He was stabbed in the arm by the
male driver.
He refused
medical treatment, bandaging the arm himself and showed up to work the
following day. They fired him for violation of company policy.
He has started a GoFundMe page while he ponders his future.
