FRESNO STATE PROFESSOR RANDA JARRAR SHOULD BE FIRED FORTHWITH!

A Fresno State professor is under fire for her tweets deriding Barbara Bush posted just an hour after the former first lady's death was announced Tuesday evening.

Randa Jarrar, who teaches in the English department, took to Twitter last night and wrote a series of tweets condemning Bush, who died at the age of 92 after a battle with lung disease and congestive heart failure.

'Barbara Bush was a generous and smart and amazing racist who, along with her husband, raised a war criminal. Fuck outta here with your nice words.

'PSA: either you are against these pieces of shit and their genocidal ways or you're part of the problem. That's actually how simple this is. I'm happy the witch is dead. Can't wait for the rest of her family to fall to their demise the way 1.5 million Iraqis have,' she wrote.

The tweets generated controversy online, with many saying that her words against Bush were inappropriate.

'Randa Jarrar is a hate-spewing psychopath, yet she remains gainfully employed at Fresno State. This CANNOT be allowed to stand,' one user wrote.

Another user added: 'If you're a student in one of Randa Jarrar's classes please do the right thing and boycott her until she is forced to resign. Who would want to learn English when she spews this vile crap?'

But that only fueled Jarrar's rhetoric, and she continued to voice her opinion in several more tweets before eventually setting her account to private.

In one tweet, she said she couldn't be fired because she has tenure, going so far as to tag the school's president in the post.

The school has tried to distance itself from Jarrar, saying that her tweets were written as a 'private citizen' and they don't reflect the university.

'Professor Jarrar’s expressed personal views and commentary are obviously contrary to the core values of our University, which include respect and empathy for individuals with divergent points of view, and a sincere commitment to mutual understanding and progress,” he added.

'On behalf of Fresno State, I extend my deepest condolences to the Bush family on the loss of our former First Lady, Barbara Bush.

'We share the deep concerns expressed by others over the personal comments made today by Professor Randa Jarrar, a professor in the English Department at Fresno State. He statements were made as a private citizen, not as a representative of Fresno State.

'Professor Jarrar's expressed personal views and commentary are obviously contrary to the core values of our University, which include respect and empathy for individuals with divergent points of view, and a sincere commitment to mutual understanding and progrress.' the school's president, Joseph I. Casto, said in a statement.

Jarrar, a Muslim, was born in Chicago but grew up in Kuwait and Egypt, before returning to the U.S. after the first Gulf War.

Her writing has appeared in The New York Times Magazine, Salon.com, The Rumpus, the Utne Reader, The Oxford American.

She is the author of two books, the coming of age novel 'A Map of Home' and a story collection - 'Him, Me, Muhammad Ali'.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Barbara Bush was a role model for First Ladies and a giant among midgets.

Randa Jarrar is a perfect example of what plagues higher education in the United States. Our colleges and universities are full of hate-America spewing professors who try to indoctrinate students instead of educating them.

I am quite familiar with the “Principles of Academic Freedom” which were formulated by the American Association of University Professors and which are religiously adhered to by the nation’s colleges and universities. Faculty members and university administrators believe (or want to believe) that these principles give them the right to say anything they want to in the classroom. They are wrong, dead wrong. Just as in free speech, there are limitations to what you can say.

Since Jarrar made her repulsive statements outside the classroom, Fresno State’s president apparently won’t fire the bitch because, according to him, she made them as a “private citizen.” The school says Jarrar’s tweets as a private citizen do not reflect the university. And instead of firing the bitch, here is what the school’s president wrote:

“We share the deep concerns expressed by others over the personal comments made today by Professor Randa Jarrar, a professor in the English Department at Fresno State. He statements were made as a private citizen, not as a representative of Fresno State. Professor Jarrar's expressed personal views and commentary are obviously contrary to the core values of our University, which include respect and empathy for individuals with divergent points of view, and a sincere commitment to mutual understanding and progress.”

What a crock of shit! Let’s take a police officer protected by civil service regulations as an example. If he were to make statements about Barbara Bush on social media like Jarrar did, he would be fired forthwith, civil service protections notwithstanding. Although he would have made those deplorable statements as a private citizen, he is still a representative of his police agency. And it’s the same with tenure.

I don’t know which is more shameful, the statements made by Jarrar or the fact that Fresno State apparently won’t fire her.

MAYBE NOT AS SAFE AS SHE THINKS

Randa Jarrar is a nasty, vicious hater. She is also a tenured English professor at Fresno State in the formerly great state of California. About an hour after the announcement of Barbara Bush's death she launched a series of tweens, calling Barbara Bush an "amazing racist" and asserting that she "raised a war criminal.' She also said that she can't wait for the rest of the Bush family to die. In addition, she expressed as fact the notion that she had tenure and couldn't be fired and if you didn't like it you could go fuck yourself.

The university provost, Lynnette Zelezny, expressed concern over Jarrar's rants. She also said on the record that Jarrar's belief that she could not be fired was in fact false. Jarrar is on leave during the current semester and the university has not been in direct contact with her over her rant.

University President Joseph Castro tried hard to distance the university from Jarrar, asserting that her statements were 'deeply concerning" and that Jarrar made the statements as a private citizen. I am not sure that Jarrar thinks that. Castro extended the school's "deepest condolences" to the Bush family.

From what I gather Barbara Bush was a genuinely likeable and pleasant lady. I suspect that Ms. Jarrar may find that her ample ass isn't as fireproof as she thinks it is. Up until now being a minority female (she is a Muslim) has made her untouchable. The past is no guarantee of the future.
