Yreka (pictured above) is a lovely place. I have family in that general area. The McKinney Fire, the largest currently burning in CA has placed the teeming metropolis of Yreka in serious risk. Current containment is zero. The fire is well over 50,000 acres. Several homes along the Klamath River are already destroyed. About 2,000 residents have been ordered to beat feet and more are on standby for evacuation.
Its a damn shame that California has such a fucked up forest management policy. It is almost like they WANT massive wildfires. of course once all the forests burn down there will be no more forest fires, so maybe it is a self-correcting problem. .
