HOMELAND DECISION ROBS MANNY PACQUIAO OF HIS BOXING CROWN

The Australian challenger was clobbered through most of the fight, but the judges made him the winner by a unanimous decision

Welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao has been my favorite boxer in recent years. The gutty fighter is also a Filipino congressman.

On Sunday, Manny defended his world welterweight title against Australian Jeff Horn in Brisbane, Australia before 55,000 of his challenger’s screaming fans.

Manny clobbered Horn through most of the fight. But instead of raising Manny’s hand in victory at the end, the referee raised Horn’s. The judges had robbed Manny of his crown by a unanimous decision.

ESPN’s TV analysts called the decision “Highway Robbery”. Most of the sporting world agrees.

I believe the judges were intimidated by those 55,000 howling fans who cheered Horn every time he threw a punch, even when he missed.

This was clearly a homeland decision! Highway robbery is a mild description of this Australian mugging.
