THIRD TIME IS A CHARM....OR NOT

by Bob Walsh

Shannon Kepler, 56, was a Tulsa, OK P.D. officer back in 2014. He was off-duty when he shot Jeremey Lake, 19, to death. This happened on a city street. Lake was in the company of Kepler's daughter, Lisa, 18. Lake and Ms. Kepler had been cohabitating for a while, since they met at a homeless shelter.

Kepler assets that he shot in self defense and that Lake was armed. Nobody else claims to have seen a gun and none was recovered.

Kepler's third trial just ended in a hung jury, 6-6. Kepler has a couple of misdemeanor convictions that have cropped up since, not related to this case.

It is unknown at this time if he will be tried a fourth time.

Kepler is White, Lake was mixed-race. That shouldn't matter, but it does.

The juries have spoken. They need to vote this D.A. out of office for throwing away good money after bad. Twice was enough. Three times was too much. I think the cop may have a basis for a civil suit against the county.
