U.S. Courthouse in Baltimore
U. S. District Court Judge George Russell III just issued a
ruling in the case of Novotny v Moore, brought by the Firearms Policy
Coalition, the Second Amendment Foundation, and other groups as well as
several individuals.
Judge
Russell granted summary judgement and permanently enjoined the state
from enforcing various provisions of their truly psychotic gun control
laws. Specifically thrown out was the prohibition against carrying on
private property unless the owner had specifically permitted firearms,
carrying "near public demonstrations" and where alcohol is sold for
on-site consumption, i.e. bars and restaurants.
It
seems that we have one more federal judge who can read and can perform
some critical thinking functions. That is a good thing. He is the
chief judge of the Maryland federal district.
