CalOSHA is a good-size bureaucracy. They investigate and
act on issues relating to occupational safety. They have some
enforcement power and make criminal referrals on occasion.
Back
in 2018 they actually arrested Richard Fazlollahi, the manager of their
own Santa Ana District Office. Took his ass away in handcuffs. He was
convicted in 2021 in a corruption case that involved grevous bodily
injury. It eventually turned into a criminal case of manslaughter which
he diddled with. He was kept on the payroll thru 2019, earning him
about $400,000 for that one year, giving him a huge boost in
retirement. He was charged with 25 felonies. He copped to 14. After
this mess the suits at CalOSHA asserted that they would take a strong
stance against internal malfeasance, meaning I guess that they didn't
give a shit about it prior to that.
Fast-forward
a few months. Same office. They hired a guy who was actually under
criminal charges at the time. That guy is Jason Ikonkwo. They hired
him as a safety inspector. He was awaiting trial on felony
embezzlement, money laundering and misuse of public funds charges.
While they were busy hiring this guy they were "busy" not hiring enough
other staff to keep their office functioning at a reasonable level.

Lee has recently been appointed by Gavin "God I Want To Be President"
Newsom to head CalOSHA. She was the immediate supervisor of
Fazlollahi. She approved the hire of Ikonkwo despite concerns voiced by
intermediaries. Her confirmation is being held up in the senate. I
can't imagine why.
